Iron Fitting

Iron length is where a wrist-to-floor measurement matters most — it sets the foundation every other spec in the set gets built around, and a wrong starting number compounds across all seven or eight clubs.

Where Every Iron Fitting Starts

Length, Then Lie, Then Everything Else

We measure your wrist-to-floor distance and check your setup posture with a mid-iron before touching shaft flex or head design. If length is off, lie angle measurements taken afterward won't reflect your real playing position — you'll be standing differently than you naturally would at a corrected length.

Once length is confirmed, we move to dynamic lie angle, checking impact tape at address to see exactly where the sole is contacting the ground on live swings.

What We Check in an Iron Set Fitting

Set Length

A single length adjustment applied consistently across the set, calculated from your wrist-to-floor number and confirmed with impact tape.

Dynamic Lie Angle

Checked with live swings, not a static bench reading — the club moves differently under real swing speed than it sits at rest.

Shaft Flex & Weight

Shorter or longer set lengths shift effective swing weight, so shaft specs are confirmed after length rather than before it.

Grip Size

Larger hands often need a slightly larger grip regardless of length; checked alongside your set length adjustment.

Set Composition

We review where your irons should stop and hybrids or fairway woods take over, based on real carry-distance gaps.

Head Design

Blade, cavity-back, or player's distance — matched to your typical strike consistency once length is locked in.

Common Misses

What an Iron Length Fitting Can Fix

Toe-Down or Heel-Down Contact

Mismatched length is one of the most common causes of consistent toe or heel contact across an entire iron set, not just one or two clubs.

Long Irons That Feel "Whippy"

Length that's too long for your build often makes the longer irons in the set feel harder to control, even when shaft flex is technically correct.

Uneven Yardage Gapping

A length correction frequently tightens up carry distance consistency between adjacent irons that previously overlapped or gapped unevenly.

Fatigue on Longer Rounds

Clubs that force compensating posture all round can add up to real fatigue — a length correction often makes a noticeable difference on the back nine.

Get Your Set Length Right

Sessions run 60–90 minutes and include a full dynamic lie angle check alongside the length measurement.
